No, don't do that! This is definitely not to be milled on CNC

CNC milling machines are widely used in industry for machining various materials, but there is a category of materials that are highly undesirable or should not be machined on such machines. One such material is glass.

Glass is a very fragile material, and machining it on CNC milling machines can have negative consequences. Not only will glass kill the cutter after the first attempt, but it can also cause damage to the machine and the equipment as a whole. This is because glass, being a brittle and heterogeneous material, will cause strong vibrations and shocks, resulting in the destruction of the cutting tool. Even the use of coolant (cutting fluid) will not help in this case, as glass cannot be machined using the conventional methods used for metallic materials.

Conclusion: milling glass on a CNC milling machine is highly undesirable and dangerous to the equipment. This material is best machined using specialized equipment and techniques designed specifically for glass machining. Otherwise, attempting to mill glass on a CNC milling machine will result in serious damage and loss of equipment life.

What can be produced with the CNC milling machine

In addition to straight and curved cutting of materials, the CNC router is also used for:

    • milling, 2D and 3D machining,
    • interior and exterior décor,
    • relief panels, paintings, and picture frames,
    • doors, casings, and window frames,
    • flights of stairs,
    • balusters, columns, garden sculptures, and statuettes,
    • furniture, carved chairs, high chairs for children,
    • tables, bar counters, coffee tables, and game tables,
    • outdoor advertising, signboards, three-dimensional letters, showcases, organizers,
    • cutting boards, boards for steaks and burgers, coffee coasters,
    • unique handicrafts,
    • industrial machine parts and auto parts,
    • printed circuits,
    • souvenirs, gifts, decorations, commemorative coins, branded boxes and coasters.
