Blue Light Inhibits Melanoma, zjkc Phototherapy Backs Skin Heal

  • Melanoma is hard to treat due to its rapid proliferation and high metastasis risk. A 2024 study by Qin H et al. (published in J Biophotonics) found that 460nm blue light, via photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy, significantly inhibits human MeWo melanoma cells: it reduces cell viability (with stronger effects at longer exposure or higher intensity) and slows cell proliferation, possibly by disrupting cellular energy metabolism and other basic functions. This non-invasive, gentle therapy avoids heavy damage to healthy cells, offering a new direction for melanoma treatment—though it currently remains in lab-based cell research and needs further validation.

This phototherapy study also highlights the value of specific-wavelength light in precise skin cell regulation. Similar to zjkc’s Handheld 308nm Excimer UVB Lamp, which mainly targets skin conditions like vitiligo (inducing T-cell apoptosis in lesion areas and promoting melanocyte regeneration via 308nm UVB), both rely on the core principle of "targeted cellular effects by specific light wavelengths," underscoring the diverse application potential of phototherapy in skin health.
