The illusive Taif Rose hails from a mountainous region in Saudi Arabia, 2000 metres above sea level, and only flowers in the month of April. It must be picked before the sun touches its petals in order to preserve this flower's precious oil. It takes around 40,000 blooms to produce just 10 grams of oil, worth nearly 1,000 GBP.
